    Home made UV killer?

I decided to get camo'ed out for deer season this year. I always figured camo was designed more to fool hunters into buying it than it was to fool game. I want to kill a good buck this year so I thought I would give it a try. We got the stuff and it stinks so we have wash it. In trying to find a UV brightener free detergent I discovered that the camo probably already has UV brighteners in it. The general recommendation is to use the UV killer made by Atsko on it.

The Atsko product isn't locally available and we are leaving this weekend to go hunting. Are there any common chemicals that can be used to treat fabric to cover the UV brighteners in the fabric?

I use Tide unscented. On strictly hunting clothes, especially outerwear, I use NO detergent at all. The warm wash cycle + the cold rinse cycle gets them plenty clean.

Dogs roll in carrion to mask their scent........ (or at least it should also have that effect, whatever reason the dog might have)
We need somebody/something to keep the government (cops and bureaucrats too) HONEST (by non government oversight).

Every "freedom" (latitude) given to government is a loophole in the rule of law. Every loophole in the rule of law is another hole in our freedom. When they even obey the law that is. Too often government seems to feel itself above the law.

We forgot to take out the trash in 2012, but 2016 was a charm! YESSS!

Soak your camo clothes in Doe-In-Heat then sit on the edge of a treeline and shoot the buck you like best.
It's up to you to decide if you like him best because of his looks...or his breeding technique.

It depends on my mood and what I am hunting. If I am going out to bust a couple of does for the freezer then it is denim jeans and a flannel shirt. If I am hunting that Boon and Crockett monster buck, then it is my mossy oak cammo, hand washed in homemade lye soap. No scent, no UV brighteners, and no fuss. If you don't have lye soap a bar of plain old Ivory works well also. Do not put in the dryer, as the residuals of all of the smell goodies and brighteners can contaminate your hunting clothes. Let drip dry on an out door clothes line, and then store them in a plastic bag containing a few leaves of the type found in the area in which you hunt.

Best Wishes form the Boer Ranch

Baking Soda... no UV brightners.. cleans and descents and is oderless. Then bag your outer hunting clothes in a non Scented garbage bad that has either woods or field dirt (where you hunt) or leaves (I use culled apples) in the bag. I also bag all my hunting clothes and boots so they do not pick up my basement oders... When I leave my vehicle I rub down my outer garments with cut apples..

Oh, YEAH? Lemme tell you what's REALLY worthless.

You know those Deer Alert things that come two to a card, and you stick 'em on your bumber? THOSE are worthless!

I put two new ones on my pickup, and parked on the side of the road right NEXT TO a deer crossing sign.

After eight hours, eleven deer had crossed in front of me, and those Deer Alert things NEVER MADE A SOUND!!!

IMHO UV killers are a waste of money. Just another way to separate you and your money. There is no hard data that it makes any difference.

I've found anytype of clothing works using the wind in your favour and being still will get game close to you everytime. Last year I got a Bobcat that got within 5 feet of me before I moved thinking I did not want this animal in my lap. He then went out about 15yds. and turned to look back at me. I was very still, and still he did not see me. Shot him and he now sits on my wall. Even though I raised my rifle and made him turn, he actually did not see me at all. All he saw was something move in a pine top. This in plain clothes after work.

I'm not sure that would work, my dog rolls in cow patties all the time and as far as I know she's never killed a deer.

I do 90% of my warm weather (I.E over 35degrees) deer hunting in a set of red pinstiped grey mechanics coveralls...I outkill all my buds who invest many many dollars on all that other fancy duds and stuff. I have even had to clear my throat to get humans to see me up in da tree...it works folks...and i wash them in good ol granular tide. All that other crap is simply there to make your wallet lighter. But if you wanna make your clothes less bright anyway you could try leaving them in front of the television tuned to CNN or some other libtard news network...seems to work on sheeple, maybe it will work on clothes also.
