Lee C309113F .30 carbine OAL

I'm going to try some of these and I'd like to know what OAL is proper. I've read that a lot of you like it. I'm going to use W296 unless something faster will function the gun.
This is my first .30 carbine reloading rodeo so I'll get the j-words done first......

I load mine rather short, ran into some horrible feeding issues if seated to lengthy. What worked for me was too just slowly increase seating depth until they would slide smoothly into the chamber. Little to no crimp added.

I'll try it from the crimp groove and go from there. Any advice on faster powders?
From what I read this bullet is a good one in every .30 cal.

My carbine is picky about which boolits will feed. It is a Plainfield and not an official military one so that might be the difference? It won't feed the "soup can" 113 gr. but the Lee 120 grain boolits feed and shoot great. I used 8.5 to 9.5 gr. Blue Dot. Once I discovered the 113 gr. 311359, I mostly load that with 12.5 gr. WW296. Too many other projects these days, will have to revisit the carbine this summer again. Pretty fun little gun to shoot.

Nice! I've a soup can mold I've yet to try, looks like a good one for the Marlin 62.

I don't use the Lee 113F, but have heard it works well. With all my other boolits in 30M1 I load as long as possible to reliably feed through the magazine. My favorite powders are N110, H110/296, IMR4227 and 2400 in that order. I mostly use the RCBS 30-115-SP, the 311359 and Lee C309-120.

I run the soup can in my .30 Blackhawk with 2400.

I have 5 carbines that run this bullet I load it to just past the crimp groove maybe 1/4 up the driving band. I use 14 grn 2400 with a AL GC and get min of clay pigeon at 100 yards off hand

I use the 115 gr round nose version. It feeds better than the soup can. For powder, I use 2400 or 4227. 296 works too. There are also a few good loads with Lilgun. But a word to the wise, many carbines do not like soft points or flat points. You may end up having to polish the feed ramp to get them to work.

I shot a cow offhand, then a bullet hole on paper. Then two shots trying to hit the first hole. 2-jsp and 2 soup cans. 25yds standing after sundown. Load them up full steam ahead. 14.5 W296 and the Howa ate them like candy.

Yes, I think the 30 carbine is overpowered for that particular breed of cow.

For grins I loaded some Acc 31-095T. I don't know how they'll shoot but they dry cycle fine shockingly!

Goes to show, "Your mileage may vary". Mine won't even feed the RCBS 32-98 and that's only a leetle bit flat nosed.

OAL for the 113F is 1.59. This Howa is a factory sporter so it probably is polished up more than a GI.

All three bullet types shot into 2" at 40 yds but I have a bedding problem. That's for a different forum, though.
