Free Lead for a Little Work - St. Louis Area

I purchased around 300 pounds of lead from a local scrap yard years ago. It is mainly soft lead, but there is some harder stuff mixed in too. I hate smelting and just don't have the time to do it anymore.

My proposition: You pick it up (its on a pallet in a thick cardboard box), smelt it into ingots, and you can keep half of it. Then bring me the other half.

I am located in Edwardsville IL, but the lead is about 12 miles north of me (Bunker Hill, IL).

Lead can be loaded in a truck or on a trailer with a bobcat with pallet forks.

Let me know if you are interested. Thanks!

    ICH,

I'm 2.5 hrs, one way from you. I'm thinking pick it up, then mail you back two 60lb. LFRB's would make it worth the trip for me. Currently away on vacation, back to SoIL in one week.

KYcrawler, sent you a PM. Thank you for the offer!

Hamish, Thanks for the offer but I refuse to send or accept extra heavy items like that in the mail. I like my mail lady too much. Thank you for the offer!

If thats Little Rock Arkansas bring it with you and I'll melt it for you. I know, you're probably trying to reduce the stuff to move.

I guess I tend to do things big, but I can't see needing a bobcat to load 300 lbs. I put more than that much into my BMW sidecar once, and drove home slow. Unless it is one solid piece. Done that too, a 600lb keel into the back of my Ranger pickup. Wish I was closer, I'd have than done in a morning.

Free Lead for a Little Work - St. Louis Area

I'm fairly close, about an hour and a half away, but I'd rather ship it back instead of making two round trips.

Wish I could help, but don't know how the wife would feel about it.

I didnt think that this would be that hard when I originally posted this. I have been getting alot of pms about this. I will clarify a few things.

I will not accept my half of the lead shipped back to me. If you live too far then this deal is probably not for you.

I do not know how much hard lead there is versus softer lead. I bought this over 3 years ago. If you cant alloy lead, then this deal probably isnt for you.

I dont want to be responsible for any divorces. If a divorce could be a side effect of this deal, then this deal probably isnt for you.

I will not meet you halfway. If you are as lazy as I am, then this deal probably isnt for you.

    Thanks LOL!
