Herters Model 3 press with bonus

Up for sale is a late model #3 with the handle hold up detent and a #5 Shell holder (223 Rem). I disassembled it and gave it a quick wash down in some solvent to clean it up a bit. It has the typical patina (i.e. surface rust) of the cast iron where the paint is thin or missing but it’s all surface stuff. The ram and ram bore are in excellent shape and the die threads look to be in great shape as well. I did not do any further restoration leaving that decision for the buyer. Any other pictures can be sent on request.

The Bonus you ask??? It comes with an original and hard to find factory spent primer catcher. Why so rare you ask? Apparently they didn’t work so well and most folks threw them in the trash.

Buyer must pay shipping and handling costs.

Asking price is $40.00 with no trades at this time.

UPDATE* on behalf of a member I boxed the press to the best of my ability in the smallest package it would securely fit in. The official USPS weight is 22lbs for the package..

I have one of these, use it as my "big" press. Looks like this one also has the adapter that allows the use of standard dies. Good luck with your sale....

These presses will size a Sherman tank, and more. Been using one since 1960. Never had any trouble finding the shellholders I needed. There were aftermarket shellholders made (by a man in Kansas, I believe), and also an adapter that allowed use of the modern universal holders. E-bag will usually list these items.

Getting ready to shut this ad down, price is firm at $40 which is what I have into it.

Shipping cost seems to be the biggest issue. If you arrange for the shipping I will work with you, within reason of course.

If you disassemble it, it will fit in a LFRB--saves $$$$!! Steve.

Will try, but last time I tried a LFRB the press I was shipping busted out of the box and was damaged.

use two boxes -- one inside the other -- plenty of packing so press can not move --

Good press -- I also have had mine since 59 or 60 ---

I like to ship heavy items like this wrapped in an old bath towel. It is padded well and it can't move in the box. Then use lots of tape. The box may be round when it gets there but the contents are protected. Newspaper and styro peanuts are useless for this type of shipping.
