    Tumble lubing commercial boolits question

I have a decent supply of hard lubed commercial cast boolits that I'd like to push faster than the manufacturer recommends. They're hard lubed with Thompson Blue Angel so I'm wondering if I have to melt or wash off the existing hard lube before tumble lubing with 45-45-10 or if I can just tumble lube on top of the hard lube.

    Thanks!

You can tumble lube over the existing wax lube.

Agree, tumble over existing. Gives you 2 levels of protection.

Does not need to be thick either, thin but consistent is IMO ideal.

I have done that for many commercial bullets, only used BLL. It works just fine without taking the commercial lube off first.

Absolutely, apply tumble lube over the commercial lube. I have used liquid Alox thinned 50/50 with mineral spirits. 45-45-10 should also work.
This allowed 1200 fps with bullets which leaded like crazy over 1000 fps.

Is there any chance of a chemical reaction between the two lubes?

    Pretty minor I think Cranky.

Best way of course is to test yourself.

Doubt any chemical reaction. Lube is pretty inert. I tumbled with 45/45/10 over several types of commercial hard cast lubed without any problem. Reason I did it was that I'd had them long enough some of the lube fell out. I made up a batch of harder lube and pushed it in the grooves with my fingers as an experiment and it worked for the low velocities I shoot at but tumbling was just easier.
