Picked up a 1894 Cowboy limited at the range today.

Guy at the range had a 24" 44mag cowboy. Wasnt looking for one but glad I happened into it. It has decent Marbles sights. Like the gold dot front but i would like to change the rear.

He gave me 25rds. I had no trouble staying on a 4" paper plate off hand at 50yds.

Wish I could go to the range and come home with an extra gun. And a .44 lever at that!

Same thing happened to me with a Marlin 1894 in 357 magnum. Guy had one at the range at a steal of a price $160. Little freckling on the receiver but at that price couldn't resist. Few months at a local gun show another 1894 in 44 magnum for $240 about the same condition as the first. Love those 1894's. Frank

They are great guns. If you decide you want a shorter barrel, please don't cut that one down. So many people have done that, they are almost impossible to find in the original 24" length. Sell it and buy a 20" barreled gun. MARLIN hasn't made a 24" barreled 1894 COWBOY in about 20yrs. They don't even have 24" barrels anymore. The long barreled rifles bring PREMIUM prices. You can always sell it and buy a 20" gun with enough left over for plenty of lead and powder.

    Sweet!! Congratulations.

Mine's in 45 and I love it. Use it for CAS and love it as a range toy. For truck, saddle and hiking use, my 16" Rossi gets the nod but my ' 94 Cowboy is a beaut.

I watched a Hickock45 Video. The Skinner sight looks good on this gun. If its good enough for Hickock its good enough for me.

I'm not cutting down any other .44 magnum but that 24" Marlin Cowboy is it for me. I would love to have it, a 336 CB, and an 1895 CB.

Sukivel, well the 357 1984 was a steal @ $160, and since I missed out on one in 32-20 the $240 44 was kind of a shocker at that price. Couldn't resist it though. Both do nicely with handloads. Frank

I favor longer sight radius and offhand shooting. I dont take my gun in the field.

That's not exactly the case I just bought a NIB 24" with checkered wood in 45 Colt that serial numbers to 2001 . The checkered 24" were the first version I had checkered in 44 MAG , 44-40 and this 45 Colt . I also had uncheckered 24" 357 and 45 Colt , the uncheckered version was made later and hung on for maybe 4 or 5 more years . FWIW I had 336CB's in 38-55 and 30-30 both 24" and checkered . To the best of my knowledge all the 336CB's in 30-30 were checkered and the later ones in 38-55 were uncheckered .

FWIW , the 45 Colt I recently acquired will most likely be on Gunbroker in a couple weeks .

I have two 1894CB's, in 357. One from 1999 is checkered and the other from 2001 is not checkered.

I have two 1894C's in 357, one from 2001 and one from 2002 that both are checkered.

    I have a 1894PG in 44 Mag from 2003 that is checkered.

    I don't know why the didn't checker the 2001 Cowboy's.

The one I recently acquired is a 2001 rifle and it’s checkered . This gun is still NIB or at the least LNIB as it appears as it was sold to me unfired after leaving the factory .

Just curious but how do you know the used guns you buy aren't hot? If a deal sounds too good to be true it probably is. I'd be taking a pic of a driver's license with photo ID. Not sure how the law works in the US being in possession of stolen goods but here in Canada it could get ugly quick.JM Marlins run upwards of $700-$1000 here. The recent Remlins are still junk in spite of the "improvements" bent sights looking like an ape installed them with a ball peen hammer etc. right from the factory.

A good bit of what I buy for resale gets run thru my friends business so it has a paper trail to atleast keep me from being arrested for stolen merchandise . But a good portion of what I buy for resale comes in estate groups that are brought to us to sell . If I'm interested in some of the items I let someone else price what I want and if they price it where I think I can come out alright then I buy it . We've got another bunch of stuff trickling in that the seller bought at an estate and one of the items is a S&W 19-3 2 1/2" I'm going to try and pick that up but not for resale .

I absolutely love, love, LOVE mine in 24". So much so, I went out and bought another. Killed so many deer with the first one, still with a peep, I'm kind of embarrassed. The second wears a scope and chalked up more than one nice bull elk and a couple deer. A third, 20", is my summer and early fall trail rifle.

Kind of neat now that I own a 24" .44 Cowboy, a .38-55 Cowboy, and now a .45-70 Cowboy! All I need is an affordable .357 Cowboy...

Let me guess. You drive a Delorean and hang out with a weird scientist guy?
