I see a lot of old single shot actions being rebarreld for various calibers but has anyone rebarreld a Trapdoor for something other than 45-70? Anyone done a .357 mag conversion?

Extraction becomes a serious issue for anything that isn't based off a 45/70 case .
Not to say it isn't impossible but it will be a challenge

Not the first to ask! I've not seen one personally, and while it's not quite what you asked Taylor does have a "baby" rolling block in .357 Mag.
Uh... that’s a thread I started back in February. I forgot I started it.... well I have something to add to it so I'll abandon this thread.

I have a friend who rebarreled an old Trapdoor action to .38-55 and reworked the ejector to fit the smaller case rim. It's got a 1/2 octagon barrel on it now, and done in a deluxe officer's model style. It's a great shooter, and a gorgeous build!
38-56 would have worked with the existing extractor.
