RCBS 10 10 scale Whats it worth?

I have a chance to buy a used 10 10, I always wanted one but don't know what a clean used one is worth. I've looked on flea bay but they are all over the place price wise.

I would put em at $45-50 FTF or $60-65 shipped.

I wouldn't price off eBay...half that stuff is priced to never sell, or for impatient people...haha.

I'd try to be at or under $75 if it was in excellent condition.

paid 75 for mine about 2 yrs ago, and it was an older Ohaus tan colored model, but, works great!

I think price will depend on age, condition, and country of manufacture. The early ones were USA made, then Mexico, the latest ones might be Chinese but I'm not sure. Mine is a early pale green USA RCBS. My son sent in a 502 for calibration and received a new 10-10 made in Mexico. Out of all my scales I prefer my Redding I purchased new in 1965 or 66.

The one I'm looking at appears to be NOS. How do you tell where it was made?

They seem to go in the $40-$50 range in my small circle of friends.

Blindshooter, if it's made anywhere other than the USA it should be marked as such.
The Mexico / China thing is late production.
If you search for them on eBay You should be able to get a feel for the early ones VS current.

I've found the only way to be sure it to look at the original cardboard box, the ones I've seen have a small self adhesive paper label saying "Made in China" but the casting in the base still says "Manufactured by Ohaus, USA"

The original cardboard box actually says "made in China/Mexico"

All of the mechanical scales (both RCBS & Ohaus) I have owned 40+ have the the location of manufacture stamped in the cast on the bottom of the scale.

Well I took a chance on flea bay, snagged a decent looking older Ohaus 10-10. $76 inc shipping. I saw some go off for $150 +
I don't really need it just always wanted one. I already have 3 different beam scales and one electric. I figure you can't have too many tools to measure/weigh things.

Flea bay prices are inflated and I would not pay anything past the $75-$85 range for one in very good condition. The early models had a cream colored cover and had Ohaus on the them. The later RCBS models were green bodies with clear covers.

My disclaimer on used value. Anything/everything is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. Yes some items are over paid for and those seller are lucky and found a fool. I Refuse to pay full retail for someone's used items.

Received the Ohaus 10-10 in good shape, it appears to be US produced. I like that it has some weight, never liked the lighter weight of the 505 I used for years.
The Ebay seller, a Louisiana gentleman, included a 100 ct box of Nosler .22 varmint bullets as a "little something extra". Not every day somebody just drops a $25-30 gift in with a used reloading scale!

Send it back to OHAUS if your scale weight check set shows a problem.
My RCBS 10/10 was purchased new in 1975, green base, clear cover.
It went "bad" about 25yrs ago. I sent it back to RCBS, who forwarded it to OHAUS. It took 2 weeks to get it back. No charge still works great. I use it to check my old 1st GEN RCBS electronic scale & LYMAN 1st GEN Powder Measure/Scale w/#3 upgrade. Every time I turn either one on.
A SCALE WEIGHT CHECK SET IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. I calibrate every scale BEFORE I use it.
I also have an old oil dampening REDDING # 1.

THE 10/10 IS THE BEST SCALE I OWN.

EVERY ONE SHOULD OWN ONE.

Prices have spiked a bit on the older US made ones. Scott Parker works his magic on these scales and can get them to measure down to a kernel of Varget. He wont work on the Mexican or Chinese made ones though.

Your purchase price with shipping is about what I've seen without shipping. I think you made a good fair trade for a quality piece of equipment.

I'll set it up this weekend and check it. Might even load up some of the varmint bullets to use for nutria control. I have a set of weights that were made in a local lab many years ago, I was working on their office equipment and was curious about some of the lab scales they used. One of the techs was interested in shooting and after the conversation he made me a set of check weights using their certified equipment. If I didn't have them I'd buy a set today.
