Steel targets? So many to choose from.

I'm looking for a couple maybe 2, steel targets. It seems that there are websites everywhere selling them. I need a couple of good ones that won't break momma's piggy bank. Any suggestions?

I shoot both pistols and may take a magnum rifle shot or two...like a 300 win mag. If that blows the bank I'll let that go.

A plug for a local (to me) company with really great pricing.

    https://sitargets.com

They have a massive plasma flame cutter system, and can produce custom shapes easily. Have been to their facility, and see that they are great to deal with. I was able to save on the shipping, and got a cash discount. Quality is outstanding. Shot hundreds of high power rifle rounds at 100, 200, and 300 yards at these targets and not even a dimple.

BTW, the videos of the products were shot at the gun club where I am a member, the Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club of NSB.

I am a big fan of JC Steel targets. He has a large selection of reasonably priced "hangers" and mounts that use simple t posts to set up. Very reasonably priced and the proceeds benefit a children's camp.

I had a guy in Texas I was using years ago. Now I forgot how to get a hold of him. His family owned a steel plant or factory. They all shoot. I have been looking in my paperwork for his info. If I find it I will post it up. His prices are half of everyone else.

One guy on ebay is selling fake AR500 steel. Careful. He will not answer phone calls or emails.

[QUOTE=Kenstone;4353488]Ebay has a lot of steel targets, I've bought/built dueling trees from kits I bought there:

Our favorite pistol and carbine target is the dueling tree.

For those that make their own, how much does a 3/8 4x8 sheet of AR500 go for?

When I tried to buy a sheet my local steel fab shop said it was against the law to own more then so many pounds and that would put me over. He then said half a sheet would put me over. I said good day and found a guy from Texas that goes buy 418plates. He was pennies on the dollar. I think the steel shop I was at just could not get any.

I buy precut shapes rather than sheet steel, it's cut with either a water-jet or plasma cutter that doesn't anneal the edges.
Unless you have a way to cut it, I can't think of a reason to buy hard sheet steel.

Well Titan steel targets screwed me I think. I bought the dueling tree plates. 6" ar500 3/8ths and made two trees. On for the club one for me. I shot the one for me at 50 yrds today with my 9mm. It was fine. Then the 45acp fine. Then the 40sw and it dented. Bad. So I think they sold me some none 500 plate. Buyer beware.
