    rcbs and kieth

Some months ago I was diggin around my moulds.
I saw fathers 45 mold, I was stamped with .45-201-kt
I ask RCBS if it was an original Elmer Kieth mold, I thought it was an collectors item.
And I wanted to buy a new one to preserve the old one.
    This was there replay:

Years ago before Elmer Keith passed away he contacted us to tell us that some of our molds did not match his original design and that he would appreciate it if we remove his name from those molds or redesign them. We redesigned the one of the 44s but changed the designation to SWC. The 45-201-SWC is the original KT....

He bought this one around 1965

That's a cool heirloom. Thanks for the photos. I bet it casts nicely.

    Thanks,
Perfect every time, every drop and shoots great in a 1911 and most revolvers.
But somehow, I don't think the "new" rcbs mold 201-45 is the same.
    Got that feeling....

Maybe somebody has one "new" mold?
I am curious, maybe I can send over some casts? to compare?

    Thanks

One of the most accurate bullets I shot back in the early 80's when I competed in I.P.S.C.

Even with a two cavity mold, I made and shoot a couple of thousand of those. Still have the mold in my inventory.

I have one of each 45-201-KT & 45-201-SWC. Purchased the KT in 1978 & the SWC in 1990. Can't tell the difference. RCBS did not start in the Bullet Casting Business until the middle 1970's when they bought out/obtained the LACHMILLER/OHAUS casting equipment.

Call RCBS, ask one of the old Guys. It's what they told me.

If RCBS would make 4 cavity moulds as good as their 2cav molds, they would OWN THE MARKET.
