Smith and Wesson .500 Magnum in 3.5 inch

Does anyone here have and shoot the S&W .500 Magnum in 3.5 inch barrel? I have two of the John Ross 5 inch models but was curious about the 3.5 inch. I think Miha's 400 grain John Ross "Alley Cleaner" and or Miha's 385 grain round flat hollowpoint would be the bee's knees for this one. What say you, anyone?

Hi Don, I had one of the 3.5" . Loud *** heck !! Meanest looking revolver in existence ! Years ago "someone" had some solid inserts made where the comp goes. Really quieted it down.

A couple people shot the vented v/s unvented comps, too much bullet weight compared to the amount of gasses for the comp to do much.

But, it looks really cool with the vented comp !

Sold the 3.5 to get a 5" JR - wish I had kept it.

Back then all I had was the Lee 365g GC.

I'm also looking forward to getting the Miha 385 hp.

Gunslinger, the one I'm referring to is the Performance Center 3.5 inch that has no comp. Yes, the one you had is a wicked looking sucker no doubt with the muzzle blast to go with it. I love my 5 inchers as you can load even "mild" loads and have something that goes past a hot load .44 mag. evoevil, yep, can't wait to try out those two molds also. The .500 is a very versatile cartridge.

    I wasn't aware of a 3.5 PC ?
Like Gunslinger, I had a 4" comp'd X-frame. I put a solid insert in place of the removable Comp, it made it more shooter friendly...But I grew weary of it's massive recoil. I swapped it for a rifle.
If I were to ever stumble onto one with a longer barrel (8 to 10") for a good price, I might buy another 500.

Don, I'm in the process of acquiring the PC gun you're talking about as it qualifies for the "Concealed Carry" class at RC Davis' Pin Shoot this June. Will give a full report in the future.

John, immediately after I posted this I remember you mentioning Richards shoot. Should be Taylor made for that event. Alley Cleaner bullet no doubt.

Looking forward to the PC gun report. I've been on the fence with it for some time.
