What's your favorite boolit in 45 colt?

Looking for more ideas for a different hunting boolit to try in my 45BH.
What have you all found that works for you?
I have been shooting LEE 300 grainers and 454424 SWC's for years.
I'll be a nice to you as you'll let me be, or as mean as you make me be.

I generally use the Magma 255gr SWC or simply a 230gr round nose that I use in my 45acp or a 200 gr SWC or even a 180 gr SWC. All Magma bullets no Lee stuff for me. All these bullets are extremely acccurate in my S&W 25-5.

How do those 200's shoot? What are you loading them with, and how far have you shot them for accuracy?

I like the 452423. The h&g 68 shoots well out to 50 yards using a lee collet crimp die.

I've always liked the Ideal 454190. 10% SoWW air cooled makes for pretty good expansion.

I've used Red Dot and also Unique and have had good accuracy up to 50 yards. I generally load midway to enjoy the lighter recoil and prolong the life of the gun.

I really only use three. The MP 452423, the NOE 45-270SAA, and the Lee 45-255 RF.
    KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.

I use the Lee 45-255 RF and the RCBS 45 270 SWC.
The 255 for everyday plinking and fun at 850 fps and the 270 for heavy load at 1000 fps. out of a Ruger 4 5/8" Blackhawk.

I use the RCBS 45-270saa and am going to try sizing down a gould bullet to 452 and see how that works.

90% of my shooting in 45 Colt gets done using Lymans #454190 and #454424. I have a Lyman #454490 (Thompson-esque 255 grain SWC/GC) that gets a bit of use in "Ruger-pressure" loads. and since my RCBS 45-325 for the 45/70 won't cast large enough for the 45 rifles I have sized these to .454" and tried them in the BH. They shoot fine, just 3" higher at 900 FPS than do the "190" and "424" at 1000-1025 FPS. I am coming to the belief that a 250-260 grain bullet of .45" diameter running near 1000 FPS is a very powerful and effective field tool. Correspondingly, my 44 Magnum revolver shooting gets done with Lyman #429421 run at 1075-1100 FPS. Easier on the tools and on me, with stellar accuracy.
I don't paint bullets. I like Black Rifle Coffee. Sacred cows are always fair game. California is to the United States what Syria is to Russia and North Korea is to China/South Korea/Japan--a Hermit Kingdom detached from the real world and led by delusional maniacs, an economic and social basket case sustained by "foreign" aid so as to not lose military bases.

I have used the Lee 452-200 RF, as cast, in a scoped Henry BBS, and killed woodchucks at 65 yds with it.

Accurate has several long-flat-nosed bullets intended to exploit the added length of the Ruger cylinder, to reduce free bullet travel or "jump" and to increase powder capacity.

I load the 45-240H1, 45-262H and 45-290H all with 7.2 grains of Bullseye

For over 40 yrs, it's been the 454190 for plinking and cowboy replica. For hunting, RCBS 45-270.

The 454190 is the best all around bullet I have found for Ruger BH and S&W 25. Cast with straight
WWS & tin at 20:1. Shot at 800 FPS. I also have a Ideal WC 242gr mold that I cast on soft side
and shoot at about 750 fps for target. Use Unique on both loads. I have tried several bullets that
shot as good as 454190, but not better. I haven't shot many jacketed bullets in 45Colt but enough
to see cast out shoots them at velocities practical for cast with no GC.

200 gr @1000 to 1100 fps or 255 gr up to 1350 fps in 7.5" Ruger Bisley. accurate and deadly as far as i can see to hit (elderly eyes).

After trying a RCBS 45-270 SAA, other moulds just sit in the storage box.

I don't hunt anymore, but when I did I loaded the #454424 with IMR4227 in my BH.

Now I shoot IHMSA chickens @ 50 yds. with a variety: Lyman 452374, 452488, 454424 & recently the Accurate 45-250F (now my favorite). Red Dot & HP38 will do the trick on the chickens & my loads are easier on my hand.

I only shoot offhand so I can't give you any accuracy feedback, but they all shoot better than I.

    Henry
