    Kahles or Swarovski?

Bought a cooper 7mm08 and thought I would spring for a primo scope as well (under about $1200) I only need a 3-10AO or a 4.5-14AO (maybe) but really looking for the TDS or equiv. reticle. Would like the 30mm tubes. I hear that these are the best for the budget and that swarovski AV is better. Open to other opinions w/in price/needs. Thanks

Check out the Shepherd Scopes and their web site, I have two of them and would buy another one in a heart beat. Cabela's carries them.

I have a Swarovski 3-10x42 on a .308 #1, but it is a 1" O.D. Superb optics to look through; it's just a little funny to have more expensive glass than the gun.

I have a Kahles six power on a .308 and it is very good glass . Under some conditions it is hard to tell the difference between that and my Pentax 8X43 binoculars . I am very happy with it . I have seen Swarovski but not used one , good glass I'm sure .

I don't own one (yet) but I lust after the Schmidt und Bender Zenith Flashdot for my .375. Thing is, they're probably 50% over your $1200 target level. I'd go with Swarovski, but I'll admit I've never owned or shot with a Kahles. Swarovskis are _very_ impressive!

I was leaning towards the swarvoski, but the lower price of the kahles and the life warranty of kahles is a +2

Shepherd offers a fine product at a fair price, glass as good as any in the world, and the owner answers his own phone. I have one and I'm so impressed, I won't buy anything else!

Kahles has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Swarovski for some time now. It is sort of a Chevrolet to Swarovski's Cadillac kind of thing. I would also look at Zeiss. I think that their American assembled Conquest line is the best value in optics right now.
