    6mm bullberry forming process

    Hello,

I recently got a 6mm bullberry and am now needing a guide to make some cases. Ive had experience making 357 herrett brass but this is more advanced. what steps should I take with 30-30 brass. I have bullberry dies, 7-30 waters dies, and a double ended caliber forming die to help in the necking process. My guess is to trim the brass to ? first, run through forming dies, then the 6mm bullberry dies?

    Thanks,

    Possum

I wouldn't trim the length until the neck is reformed to 6mm. Your experience making 357 Herrett should be invaluable .

No instructions with the double ended forming die? I'm surprised. I'd give Bullberry a call.

I own Fred’s work as well with std neck not match.

Start by FL size the 30-30 to ensure the neck is round.
Trim the mouth to ensure neck length is even, as little cut as possible.
    Burr removal I and O

Use Hornady or imperial case lube.

I expect your DE die to be about 28 and 27 cal.
I use nothing but 6mm Redding Bullberry die successfully.
If you are good at an annealing, anneal necks and shoulders

Multiple short passes to form neck to first OD
Same with opposite end of die.
Relube as necessary, LIGHTLY——- you will get dents in any case regardless of care, as long as in shoulder will not present a problem

Final size full pass, few short strokes with 6mm BB FL die

Must use virgin brass. Fred’s chambers are TIGHT and concentric and any swelling from a chamber foreign will disallow use of fired brass.

Mines the improved round too. Anneal is mucho important.

Expect to lose some cases! Likely wrinkled necks due to improper lube use or not ensuring neck length is uniform and case mouth is absolutely round! Both make wrinkled cases instantly.

Pm me if needed if I missed something or not clear.
These are Fred’s instructions, not mine!
