How do I seat pistol bullets in 358 win

I had a hard time loading Keith style 170s in my 358 win. I need a different rcbs seater plug , any suggestions ?

I would put a trimmed piece of brass with the mouth flared and screw the die down until I feel the brass hit the crimping roll then back off a bit. Back the seating plug all the way up.Then with the unfired piece of brass put the bullet in the mouth and run the case all the way into the die and screw the seating plug back down until you feel the bullet then work with it until you get bullet seated to the proper depth. You could unscrew the seating plug and see how it matches up with the bullet.

the rcbs seater plug that comes with the dies is not long enough and fits poorly

Call RCBS and ask about a .357 Magnum seater punch. They will send one free.
If you have .38 Special or .357 dies by RCBS you might experiment with swapping the seating punch.

You can also consider the competition seater which has a window and allows you to drop bullets in from above the case mouth.

Maybe a dumb question, but wouldn’t a 357mag seater stem be shorter than a 38special seater stem?

Ask RCBS or try them out if you have them.
