Wanting a .308 hunting rifle.

ive got two I really like. A stainless model 7 rem and a Kimber montana. If I wanted a cheap one that would about be guaranteed to be a shooter id look at a ruger American. Not pretty but they have a decent trigger and ive yet to see one that didn't shoot. Truth be told id take one over a 77.

Whew, for a while I thought I was the only one who preferred the American over a 77. One of my hunting partners has a 22-250 with a 1-10 twist and you can't make it shoot larger groups than an inch.

I guess I'll add to this old threat by saying I'm pleased with my purchase last fall of the low cost Remington 783 bolt action with adjustable trigger, synthetic stock, and a really cheap scope (replaced). At the range even in high winds I held tight groups at 100 yards using factory ammo. Couldn't beat the sale price for under $300 back then... FYI just checked and still for sale for only 303 at CTD without the free cheap scope.
