I think it's too small in diameter, and too heavy.
Ok what is a good conical .451/.452 BP bullet?

The 451 balls my dad gave me work, but I was planning on making paper cartridges in addition to a 45acp conversion cylinder.

Just curious...have you checked into the laws in New York concerning conversion cylinders?
Whether the Lee .45 acp RN will work depends upon your remington's chambers. It is a good fit in mine, an older Navy Arms and various Piettas. However, due to the length I must use less powder, load off the cylinder, and drive it in with a mallet.
The 1858's "usually prefer" the shorter Lee conical designed for them due to the rate of twist, but it's always worth a try.

Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.
Not an issue, and already researched. I am not the only one with/getting a conversion cylinder, and we have both local, sheriff and state police that belong to the club I am in and all have said it's still not considered a firearm with the cylinder and does not need to be registered. In fact the state police sergeant my dad asked when he got one for his Rogers and Spencer tried to buy it off him for his own collection.
