Total noob for swaging here.
Curious to learn what it takes to increase a factory jacketed bullet (44 caliber which are really .429-.430) to 432 -.433?
Looking for a increased diameter bullet for a Ballard-rifled Marlin 1894 44 mag, which has .4315 groove diameter for improved accuracy.
What is needed, on the low dollar side, to do this?
Can I use a single stage O-frame cast iron reloading press, to generate enough
pressure? I have a Lyman O frame, cast-iron blackened version of the orange crush(?) press.
If this press is a possible platform, what would I need for dies? Lube. Top punch? Ball park price?
Or, find a steel cylinder with . 432 I.d, drop a factory .429 jacketed bullet in it with a fitted top punch ( base plug need too?), and give it a few hammer thumps? If so, where can something like that be purchased?
Thanks in advance. Not looking to high volume numbers. Just for me, and mostly as an experiment to play with my Marlins .432 bore and jacketed bullets.
