The slingshot channel's DIY airbow and Chinese airpump reviews

So I'm not sure if his vids will survive the youtube purge but thought these would be of interest

    https://youtu.be/SGMTEOcCyZw

skip to 33 min if you want to just see the test. He seems to get more out of it than his professionally made airbow.

He's also found some chinese air equipment for PCPs. A 4500 PSI hand pump for 40 US dollars and a compressor for about 200 US

The first is just really cool. The second part is very interesting. If the equipment buy in for PCP drops from 200 for the pump down to 40 bucks, that's a game changer. Push a lot of people off the fence.

He's nuts, but I love him.

Hand pumps have been dropping drastically in price, Chinese I'm sure.

But a 300 bar compressor for 200$. Couple that with a couple of tanks and suddenly your PCP rifle is not a cash cow for some local company. You can fill your own. Be independant.

I'll have to think about that.

Yeah the hand pump for 40 is great. But for what I would have paid for a hand pump getting an actual compressor?

That makes the big bore PCPs much more appealing to me.

Wow really has me thinking now...have my disco pump and maximus posted for sale. Might have to change my mind. Plus I already have a scuba tank that will fill 2000psi quite a few times.

I see this post a few days after I decided to fix the seal on my disco and sell it. It is proving hard to sell due to needing the scuba tank refill. Pump looks like it works well. Might have to get one and keep the disco or sell it together.

I just went and checked Amazon because I'm....leery of giving credit card info to the alibaba site. I know it's chinese Amazon and both legit and huge but the english version of the site does not inspire confidence.

Amazon has similar if not identical models for a slight premium.
The air compressor is about 340 ( http://a.co/dU7Thy3) and the hand pump is about 60 (http://a.co/j9G22Z4)
I just searched "4500 psi air pump"

.... that puts the benjamin wildfire + pump at about 180 bucks.
    That's really not bad.

I'm a little more worried about the leaking problems that have been reported. Still I'm pretty sold on a semiauto PCP. I want to practice multiple shots on target and transitions between targets at home and so for that I'm ok with a bad trigger. For precision practice I'll buy one of the CMP's rebuilt Single Stroke Pneumatics and for hunting I'll use the 22lr.
