OLD Single shot Stevens shotgun - NEED HELP

OK, I know this isn't a page for shotguns, but I didn't see one in the forum list.

I found an old Stevens single shot shotgun, it's a break open type. Let me start by saying I checked it with a dowel to make sure it wasn't loaded.. anyway, the hammer is stuck back, and the trigger won't move.

Every break open I've seen has either a tang, or a push button next to the hammer that you use to open it.. this one has nothing, zilch, nada.. Was there a model that used the trigger to open the action? Like push the trigger forward or something? I can't find a model number on it either..

    Thanks

Trigger just in front of the trigger guard should open it

Well I stumbled onto the right post.. seems it's a pre WW-I shotgun (marked J. Stevens Arms & Tool).. opens by pulling the trigger with the hammer down. Thanks!

Thats a unusual arrangement. I have many early break action shotguns and rifles and have never heard of that action.
I will have to do some searching for a drawing as I like to study and understand single shot actions.
Could you post a picture of this shotgun. I am sure many would like to see it !
