    Mining lead

Found a documentary show on UTube today 3-21-18 search: (87) A Story of Lead (1948)
This held my interest to the very end . The way we get lead from Missouri.

This is in my part of the state. Well 40 miles north of me and slightly west. I have heard from relatives that worked the lead mines from bunker mo that you can find lead ore just digging in your yard. Wish I could find some

I just watched the video. Ism surprised lead is not 10$ a pound with the very long prosess. In the video the huge pile of talings is still there . When they say it’s a lot bigger than the great Piramids they are right. You can see the pile ten or more miles away. It’s massive and miles long. The family’s that settled San Antonio and the Alamo where from this area. Just north of me

Herculanium Mo. Doe Run mining is filling an entire valley with lime stone tailings from their mine in eastern Mo. Just west of the mississippi. The ore contains zinc, lead and copper.

The industrial use of lead has diminished significantly or it might have indeed been $10 a pound now.

    The tailings still contain lead.

You can tour one of the lead mines. It was flooded some time back and now it is a big scuba diving attraction.
