Passed up a decent lead buy yesterday!!!

What was I thinking!! Or was I thinking!!

three 60 lb foundry ingots of pure lead for $100. Heck, probably could have got it for $80. Don't use pure lead much, so passed it by. Heck, I should have bought it, cast into small ingots and sold it to you guys here.

Had a table at the show, so didn't get alot of time to browse.

Yep, could have doubled your money.
There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide. Ayn Rand

Pure Pb can ALWAYS very easily be alloyed with Sn and Sb to make the hardness you need. I NEVER let pure Pb go by! You can always use it.

Buy all you can when it comes around at those prices. Clean pure Pb goes for $1.00 a pound most places on here and buying at many scrap yards.

Maybe not so terrible...if you value your time to lug it around and smelt it down. I would have bought it as I have lots of time for stuff like that. I was buying lead as I neared retirement and stockpiling it.

That was a decent price. Just reinforces what I've said about lead still being out there if you look.

I have become somewhat spoiled by buying lead off this site. as mentioned above the smelting is already done for you

that being said I wouldn't pass up a great buy if one came along

Three ingots at 60 pounds each = 180 pounds for $100 = 55.5 cents per pound.

Best price I have found in recent years on plain lead was around 75 cents a pound as I recall. Had to take 300# roll of sheet lead but they did let me cut it into sections there which made transport easier. And that was a good while back. Have been tempted or late to buy more lead, happens whenever I read the trouble some folks have getting lead. I feel like I am wasting an opportunity. Unfortunately dear wife thinks of it more as wasting money since to her there doesn't seem to be any "shortage" when she looks around the garage for someplace to put her gardening stuff.

+1 on math when tired. I priced some used range brass pretty high when trying to get it posted late when tired. Worst part is I screwed up using a calculator!
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

Kind of hard to claim to love America while one is hating half the Americans that disagree with you. One nation indivisible requires work.

I firmly believe that you should only get treated by how you act, not by who or what you are!!
