WTB 257 "Bob" Roberts Barrel threaded to 1903 for Receiver

    Good morning
Getting the items together to shoot long skinny .260 cast at far away targets. Just lack the barrel. Would prefer a 26-28 inch barrel. But if you have a 24-25" barrel with good bore gathering dust let me know. Threaded for a 1903 Springfield action is a must. No need for sight grooves. If there is / are dovetails no issue. Can be dinged, scratched, pitted outside. I only shoot the inside part. But a descent bore and chamber is primary.
Will ship to east ILLinois where long wide open fields are being well traveled by mid-night yappers.
    Thanks ! Mike in Peru

Well, Mike, I just sent Bullberry reamers for the 25 Krag AI 40degree and they are going to make one barrel. The reamers will stay there with them. This is 2gr water more than the 25 Roberts AI and 2gr water less than the 25-06. Another alternative to consider, at least.

Have wanted a 257 Roberts for some years. Have dies and brass. So I think I will stick with the old "Bob".. Thank you !

I might have a line on one. Let me check and I'll get back with you tomorrow.

Well, maybe not. My buddy has two options for you but I don't think you'll want either. He has a 03A3 take off in Roberts but it's only 20.5 inches long. It's an Ashton barrel, blue isn't bad, with a front sight dovetail. Bore is excellent.

Second option is a no. 4 contour premium XX Douglas blank in .25 caliber. He would have to cut, thread, chamber and rust blue it. Then it would need fitting to your action. He'd do all that and ship it for $400.

So I don't know if I've helped or not. Let me know.

A take off Reminton 700 25-06 barrel might could be shortened & rechambered to Bob for the Springfield. If not ER Shaw can provide you a great barrel for $200 or so. Good luck in your quest.

I have a roberts but it is for a LR Mauser. 24 inches I think. Fired less than 100 rounds. Not blued. Is the heaver profile so I bought a shorter lighter one for my Bob.

    Good morning
If we did not already have the 1903 action ready to be barreled... Our Mauser action is set up to be rebarreled with a 338-06 which we already bought. So I had better stick with plan A.
Thank you ! This was a close response that does give a bit of hope in a 1903 threaded barrel showing up longer than 20".
