Looks like ordinary Brit pack MkVII Ball. Might even still go "bang~!" without hangfiring if you are lucky.
Will be corrosive and Berdan primed, loaded with Cordite.

oh no I have something that says MK VII in a brown wrapper tied with string. Mint looking
Big or normal size primer?. Got some cordite loaded rounds with the big primer, they also have a consistent 2 second hang fire. The stuffs corrosive too.

What's the rest of the headstamp? Should be at least a couple of letters to identify the arsenal that loaded it.
Looks a lot like the packaging of POF factory ball. When available it was $7-9 a box at the LGS. Berdan, corrosive with hangfires as mentioned earlier. Still shot well, just follow thru!
Actually, the headstamp is '99' so I guess 1899. What I can make out is POF and then on the opposite side of the headstamp is 7 then a 99. Does this mean it was loaded in July 1899?Originally Posted by higgins
Pakistan didn't exist in 1899, not did MkVII Ball ammunition for the .303, so if the Pakistan Ordnance Factories produced it it was 1999, or perhaps 66 if you inverted the figures...

by 1999 I would not expect to see cordite, or many hang fires either unless it was because it was from a factory with "issues". Heck with the brass running around 40 cents each up to around 75 cents it is a good add on item with the gun IF the brass is boxer not berdan primed so you can reload it.
I personally like my reloads with a milder load and better fitting bullet more than I like getting hammered by the military ball ammo when shooting at 100 yard target. Unless that target is an engine block the "bonus" recoil is just not required.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.
