32 Cal Swaging Die for Herters 9 Ton Press

    I recently started loading 32 S&W Long and 32 H&R Magnum Ammo for a J Frame S&W revolver.
Casting those little boolits sure is time consuming with all the rejects I have been getting.
I decided to make a swaging die set for 32 cal bullets sized at .312 using a 5/16 reamer. The reamer was $10 shipped from a vendor on EBay and came in a couple of days.
We got some warm weather and so I was able to get some work done in the shop and in a couple of hours I had a set of 32 cal swaging dies!
I had a die body blanked out from a failed attempt long ago so I drilled and reamed it to .312 and that part was finished.
The ejector punch was made from a 1/4” bolt and the next part was the nose punch.
I use a grade 8 5/8” fine thread bolt and turned that to.312 and used a 1/4” ball end mill to make the round internal cavity.
They work well but the ejector punch needs to be well lubricated for smooth operation.
I made some 1/4” lead wire with with an extruding Die I made long ago and cut it with a really nice core cutter designed and sold here by a member here a while back.
Within a couple of hours I had a nice little pile of 98 gr round nose bullets!
If I can find some 32 cal gas checks I think I will try to make some with gas checked based!

I have been using 50BMG primers as a half jacket and dropping in a sized, lubed 73gr cast 257 boolit and swaging that. It makes a neat half jacket 85gr swc with a thin lubed groove just above the jacket. I'm using home made dies in a Swag-O-Matic and a factory 30cal swc top punch. I think you can use any 308 or 311 gc in the bottom of your die before you swag your bullet.

I received the 303/7.62 gas checks today, now I have to make some lead wire to try them out!
I plan on making a SWC nose punch when I get some fresh time and nice weather.
