Modify common shell holders to fit proprietary Hornaday case trimmer

Cross posted to another site, did a search here but did not find a dupe...
Those of us with a Hornaday trimmer found out/know they have a proprietary shaft size requiring shell holders with a larger hole (Hornaday of course) than other standard shell holders, which are too hard to be drilled. Today I was wondering how to use a Lee shell holder, and did not want to order a Hornaday. Duhhhhh....why hot heat it to draw the temper? Heated the Lee to red with a propane torch, let cool, and drilled it easily. I'm probably the last guy to figure this out, but there may be one other out there.

Even easier is order up a die makers carbide drill and drill it out leaving it hard. A solid carbide drill will cut these and not be an issue.

There's a similar issue with using the Lee shell holders on the RCBS priming tool. The chamfer underneath isn't big enough, and it crushes the plastic insert.

I chuck them in my mini lathe and use a Dremel with triangular stone to open them up.

Order You a 8mm carbide drill. I used one to modify a lot of my Lee Shellholders to fit my Hornady Trimmer.

Personally I doubt they need to be that hard. But if you thought so it's pretty simple to heat it to non magnetic and quench.
