Information on the 30 BR is not hard to come by. What do you want to know. Presently I load the 7mm BR, but the two are quite similar. Both are good deer cartridges. They are easy to load, usually outstandingly accurate, and get considerably more velocity than you would expect out of such a small case. The 30 BR is probably the more efficient of the two.

Have always wanted a 308x1.5.......buy the 30BR is very close, so I want to take Remington 788 in 308, and redo the chamber to 308X 1.5. I want to shoot nothing but cast boolits. Most of or all the shots around here are 120 yds or less, and cast boolits will be just the ticket, plus I make my own.......................................

20 years ago I was going to rebarrel a Ruger #1 to .30BR. The only dies I could find were $250. Made it into a .308 instead. Maybe there are cheaper dies now.
The only amendment the Democrats support is the 5th.

The Remington 788 can be loaded to be extremely accurate while chambered for 308 Winchester. Changing it over to 30 BR is going to be expensive, as you are going to need to have a new barrel installed. The 788 barrel begins to taper right ahead of the action, and I don't think you can set it back and rechamber. Also, the barrel is drilled and tapped for the rear sight right where your chamber would be.

Something to think about would be finding a Remington XP-100 and have JES rebore it to 30 caliber.

I don't think JES goes as small as 30 cal.

6 BR is not generally considered a run-of-the-mill cartridge but rather a caliber around which high end competition rifles are built. If that is what you are interested in, there is no finer builder producing that category of rifle than Patriot Valley Arms http://patriotvalleyarms.com/

I shot a 308x1.5 in an Rem XP100 in hand gun silhouette with cast bullets. It was a very accurate round.
I have a set of dies for 30 BR if anyone is interested.

I took a Remington SPS in 308 and rebarreled to 308 x 1.5". RCBS will still make the dies on a custom order basis and each die is approximately $168 each. I am shooting 240 grain Sierras subsonic with a suppressor. Pinpoint accurate at 100 yds, but with my scope about 275 yds is max range with drop unless I jump up past 1075 ft/sec and get louder than Hollywood quiet. Running 11.3 grains of SR4759.

The .30 Br. is the dominant accuracy cartridge in NBRSA shooting for score and also the Cast Bullet Association benchrest comp...You may need some extra reloading equipment to wring it's accuracy out, such as in-line seaters, neck turning equip. etc. My most accurate loads use Egan mold bullets or NOE copies and V 133 powder.
