I acquired a large collection a few years ago. All original. I haven’t restored any of them.

I am not that familiar with the star loaders, does the 38/357 ones need dies to work or are they good to go like they are. how user friendly are to load with.

The Stars are ready to load. All you need are your components. Here’s a nice video.

I drilled a hole in the benchtop for the round to drop in a padded candy tin.

The only thing I added to mine was a powder drain. Great machine.

    rancher1913,
I have Dillons and Lees, and my favorite progressive press, is my Star Progressive set up for .38 special.

If I had the funds, I would have one of the Universals in .45 ACP...

    Greetings,

To load .357 on a 38 Special Star, you need a shorter expander plug. From there, it is merely adjusting the dies for seating and crimping.

Oh yes, forgot about the powder slide. You may need to buy one with the 5/16" thick bar. Progressives came with either a 1/4" (O) or 5/16" (OO) thick powder bar and housing.

Parts are still available from Star Machine Works in New Jersey.

    Cheers,

    Dave
