    8x50r Lebel

Anyone know what kind and how much powder PPU uses in their 8x50r ammo ?
Reason I ask, I plan to purchase 100 rounds and pull it down for the brass.
I will use the brass to make 10.4x38 for my Swiss Vetterli .I can use the .323 bullets to reload
some 8x57 Mauser. If I know what the powder is or equivalent to I possibly could use it for something.
    Any idea or help,thank you.

Yes i am sure it could be figured out, if you start very low and slowly work your way up. About the time you get a safe load figured out that works well in something you will be all out of the stuff. Why buy ammo and pull it down when you can just by the brass?

Thank you .455 Webley, sounds like the best route . But suppose I came across some PPU loaded 8x50r at a steel of a deal.I would still like to know what the powder is equivalent to .

According to Donnelly's Manual of Cartridge Conversions, the 8x50 R has about 10% greater case capacity than the 8x57. Measure the charge in the 8x50, then reduce by 15-20 % for a starting load in the 8x57.

Most likely the powder is non canister powder that's unavailable to the public. Best to just throw the powder on your lawn or a garden as a fertilizer

I believe the bullets should be .327 for the Lebel. This might be a tad too big for the 8x57. Might be best to go with just the brass. BTY: I've used 348 Win for my Swiss and it works just swell. However, that isn't always easy to find either.

Thanks everyone for the input. Sometimes a thought is just wishful thinking. I will buy the 8x50r brass from Graf and sons.
