    Grumpa,

    IF I didn't have both 7.62 NATO & .300 Savage rifles, I would do the same.= Firing an.300 SAV round in a 7.62 NATO chamber could be hazardous.

    I do reform Lake City brass into 9.3x62mm, as the old Mauser shells won't chamber in a .30-06.

    If your not opposed to converting other brass, use a headstamp that you don't shoot. .243 is pretty common, not much to trim for length, .270 Win. will work just bunches more to trim to length. I try and use 270 for most of my .473 head sized case conversions, I don't own a 270 and probably never will. I pick up a loaded round in 270 and immediately know it is not what it appears.
