There are two different 8X56R cartridges. They aren't interchangeable. The S probably stands for "sporting". It's the MS (Mannlicher-Schoenauer) you are thinking about. It uses a .323" bullet. The other was a strictly military 8X56R using a .329" bullet

ou o! I might have ordered the wrong brass, well, we'll see in about two more days!
I don't believe There is an 8x56RS. like the post above the hungarian M95 used the 8x56 R with the .329 bullet. Manlicher Sho was rimless using .323
There are English rifles that are called 8mm Mannlicher . these were really 8x50R Austrian Mannlicher using .323

Sorry I think I inverted the bullet sizes. The other 8X56R Military cartridge was called the Kropatchek, that used the .323. A black powder cartridge developed in 1880's.
My guess is you've ordered the right brass unless you're trying to shoot the old Russian rifle.

I'll know in a day or two, I had five more split cases today at the range. I think it's time to annel the brass. and I don['t shoot Russian rifles any more(I learned my lesson along with my carapracter )
I lost five cases at the range yesterday and five more annealing the brass today I hope my order comes in today. the case necks are splinting
