    Double coating to increase diameter?

I have a mold that drops about 0.004" smaller than I want it to, and am in the process of grinding it out.

Meanwhile I have a pile of a few hundred boolits that are slightly undersized for my barrel now. When I powder coat (using Smoke's clear FTW) it usually adds about 0.0015" to the overall boolit diameter. Would it be possible to just powder coat the same boolits 2 or 3 times to build them up? I am just using the shake n' bake method with plastic BBs; no ES gun here. Will the powder stick to the initial cured coating as well as it sticks to the bare lead?

Save yourself frustration, fix the mould & run them again. Powder coat is a lubrication jacket, the thinner and more even the better the accuracy.

Yes, you can double coat to increase size. Thick coatings will effect uniformity and accuracy some, just depends what those are for if it matters or not.

Since it's just a few hundred and these are for plinking, I'm not too worried about it. Thanks!

I do it for my Lyman mould that drops the 292 grain boolit at .457.

I bought the mould knowing my 1895 CB liked .460 or better.

Works for me, but I'm not a long range guy.
