    Hunting Boolits

I haven’t done it so I don’t really know. What do people think about hunting with PCed boolits? Do they mushroom as well as plain lead for the same BHN? Maybe you can get get away with softer lead with PC and they will mushroom better than a naked boolit. Any thoughts on this?

PC is just a thin polyester “jacket” and yes, they deform/mushroom/expand just as good as other lead bullets. All those HP were shoot at subsonic velocity and are pure lead with 5%tin.
FP is same alloy, pushed to 1200fps.

Those pictures are great proof that they mushroom and that you don’t need to push them excessively fast to get them to so.
    Thanks

Any bullet expansion is going to be alloy/vel/hp design related, the PC is not tough enough to resist the bullet expansion. High vel, moderately soft alloy, cup points work well. Low vel, softer alloy, larger HP will work better.
