    Lost a true friend

    My friend John Golden was laid to rest today. He led an interesting life and was a true American patriot.

    John joined the FBI in 63 and was responsible for receiving the bodies and cataloging the belongings of the 3 Mississippi Freedom Riders as well as developing the Zapruder film.

    In 65 he joined the Secret Service and was assigned to protect Mamie Eisenhower detail followed by assignments with LBJ and Richard Nixon. He continued protective duties for both Gov. George Wallace and Jimmy Carter.

    After receiving intel that a Columbian drug cartel had put out a contract on the Bush family, John was assigned to protect First Son and future President George W. Bush. John retired in 95.

    The stories he told were many, and a lot of them will never be repeated. I am proud to have been his friend.

    He sounds like a good man . I'm sorry for your loss Slim , it's hard to lose a good friend . I am praying for you and his family and I'm glad he had you for a friend . My condolences to you brother .

    It is hard to lose a friend, many times harder to lose a good friend. I have lost almost everyone I once held dear the good ones were the hardest. He will always be here in the story you share and memories you have of him. You honor his name by sharing. Thank you

    Slim, I am sorry for your loss. You were lucky to has someone like John come into your life. I am sure that there were many good times as he shared his life stories with you. A true friend is a rare thing to have in ones life......Doug
