    Ruger Old Army grip size?

    Hi all,
I sent for a pachmayer grip for one of my ROA's. The grip says it fits a Blackhawk frame & thought it said ROA but it obviously doesn't fit that. Not like I haven't put a few of these on-it just is the wrong one . Anyone know what grip fits this beast.?

Grips that fit the old model (3 screw) will fit the Old Army

I went by the marking on the frame "XR3-Red" and that didn't work. Mine says XR3-Red (both times I checked even) and the Hogue packaging says they will fit but they don't. So, sounds like 3-screw and newer 2-screw must be the difference. Is this Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk frame that is the same? I should be able to fit these grips on my single seven o not a total loss. Thanks guys for the help.

    .

Ruger Old Model single-action and Old Army revolvers had an XR3 (shape/size) gripframe.

Some Old Models & ROA's got the newer (different shape) XR3-RED gripframe during the transition to the newer gripfame, company-wide.

Super Blackhawks gripframes first had the square-back dragoon trigger guards with a larger grip section, some New Model Supers had XR3-RED round TG gripframes.

Newer Ruger single-action BH/Vaquero revolvers got a grip frame with the internal safety lock, and their grips were recessed inside to clear the lock's width.

That's not all there is to Ruger grip frame sizes, though - read this: http://www.gunblast.com/Hamm_Ruger-SA-GripFrames.htm

I've never mounted rubber bumpers on a Ruger single-action revolver, so there may/may not be fitment issues with them - IDK.

Thanks! This should help me narrow things down. A lot of great information.
