    9mm 147 TC group buy?

would it be something interesting for some of you guys?

i need a groovless .357 mold in 9mm,and i ended up with this repro of the hornady XTP i've modified to turn it into a little shorter TC at .610 AOL. of course this is intended as target boolit. after some verifications about the gravity center, the .610 AOL came as the correct lenght for the mod'ed design.

i thought that maybe if there's some interest in it we would be able to save a little via a group buy?

anyways here is the partial draw using some of TOM's canevas. the final look of the boolit on paper will be available after tom's return from vacation.

    Looks good
    Would like gas check option
If this is from Accutate, no need for a group buy
With a .25" meplat, this will hunt and kill most anything

well,i need to speak with tom about an hypothetical ''group buy'''. does it save us some money if we have 10 guys in line for the same mold? that's what i need to know.

otherwise, this design will end up into its design catalog for anyone to purchase. for one i'm ordering a 6 cavities in brass (if it is possible).
so, a little update about this custom mold. i've been able to find some time to break it in ,and the result is over my expectations. this mold rock. on 400 boolits i've casted from COWW lead, ALL...yes,i say ALL boolits are at 146grs.variation is inside 1..yes 1 grain.and they all show .358 diameter.i'm not joking at all. maybe i must cast more with it to see some larger discrepancy, but all cavities drop virtually the same size-weight-diameter.

    amazing.sweet bustin AMAZING,nothing less.

my good shooting buddy was with me,in fact we were both casting in stereo LOL...and he was completely stunned after numerous measurements.

anyways......i'm trying to upload some pics, but for some reasons the admin won't let me i don't know why.

i hope to get tom's approval for this design by the end of the week ,will let everyone know what can be
    done .

as i'm a newbie here i don't know if the idea of a group buy involving accurate molds is futile
, i'd be very happy with only a 10% off and a free top punch ; perhaps it 'll happen with 15 of us in line for that mold ; i honestly don't know .

however i'm getting my mold done as soon as Tom approves it so the draw will be on Tom's catalog .

well, good news. the design is now ready to be turned into real molds.

a short story, my initial design was about to drop 153 grs boolits with coww give or take.

now, that boolit is , for me ,gonna see the core of its use in the ipsc-uspsa production-CO class,so i wanted to keep it at 147,then asked Tom to bring on the corrections needed to get the boolit to drop at around 147grs or a little lighter ; to achieve that, he shortened the ogive AND bearing to keep the original balance intact.

as for the group buy Tom explained that given the volume of work he experience, it doesn't
worth it ,and i perfectly understand that .

however, here's Tom's version of the hornady XTP he submitted.

all i know is i'm gonna get my order in for a 4 cavities brass.i'd like a 6 because this mold is going to see a lot of lead ,so a 6 would be very handy from this point of view ; anyhow a 4 is always better than a 2 haha.

aol is now at .580 from .610 it was originally.

he reduced the distance between the base and shoulder of the ogive-bearing transition to .355 from .393 it was .

Will be interested to see what the weight of a finished bullet is.

it might hit 147 with COWW. quality molds may drop at +0.01....0.02.....but not supposed to drop undersize or lighter . extrapolating on the lead type i'm confident 147,but honestly 145 is as nice to me. not much changes regarding my typical load for a coated bullet. as long as there,s no notable variation from cavities to cavities,i'm good to go. this round is of course a target round. i don't expect it to be overly accurate past 30 yards, but i'm confident of one ragged hole at the typical distance shot in uspsa-ipsc. Tom tried to keep the balance of the round while removing 0.030 of the total aol.

hey guys......i've got my mold . a work of art if anything. due to some events i got only some time left to cast a hundred boolits with it...should have taken pics of my targets, but anyways i can say it's a really accurate boolit....enough for the matches anyways.

i hi tek'ed them and resized to .356 it gives the expected results. i loaded them over 3.5grs of VV320 at 1.130COAL .while i haven't chrono'ed the few i've shot ,i'm confident i'm hitting 125-130 PF.

for those interested the reference number on the accurate mold website is 35-145M.,..as mentionned earlier, there's no possible group buy with accurate mold .tom explained that it doesn't worth it for him,and i understand that .

no. loaded a hundred only since i've got it. i'm busy with unexpected things right now....and when i'll restart casting, i might have to work on my 40S&W stock which is low right now. got my 40 mold from Tom also, still hasn't tried it.
