    Competitor Single Shot Pistol

Does anyone know the procedure to change out barrels on the Competitor pistol? I just bought one with a 35 Whelen and a 22/250 barrel and I don't want to mess it up.

    .

A friend once had one, and although it's been a bunch of years ago, IIRC he used an allen wrench to remove the screw binding the barrel threads, and a pin punch somewhere, after the barreled action was removed from the stock - the barrel basically unscrewed from the breech.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, as I was less than interested in his gun, back then.

Thank you pietro! I guess I am up to the pin punch part. I found a Competitors pistol manual on Ebay. I think I will sit tight for a week until it gets here.

If I recall correctly, when these were being made they seemed to be a cheaper and more adaptable version of the lone Eagle. Same cannon breach design, with the availability of swapping barrels, plus the company would chamber a barrel in almost any caliber that was available. I lusted over those things for sometime, until my interest went somewhere else.

I always thought they were ugly but I sure wanted one. That cannon breech is cool. A .35 Rem would be my choice.

I predict fun with those two barrels. Varmints with the 22-250 and everything else with the .35 Whelen! I would imagine both are very loud and full tilt Whelens are gonna buck!

Yes Sir I am thinking it is gonna buck real good. I got a 45/70 revolver and a T/C Contender 30/30 and they kick a little but I think the 35 Whelen is gonna hurt a little

Thanks Preacher! It was pretty easy to swap barrels but I don't think I would have figured it out without the manual. All the best to you.
