I started with a 54 caliber one and had Bob Hoyt rebore it, to get an appropriate twist and rifling form.

Yes buy a beater barrel that will drop in your TC stock like I did and send to Bob Hoyt and he will send you back a 1-60 RB shooter that you will kill everything you aim at I can not find my address book but use search button or someone will chime in (he does a LOT of barrels for folks here) Ed

Does he just rebore? Or can he convert percussion to flintlock as well???

Call early or late in the day and let it ring and ring.

Nobade, you got it! A bad barrel is cheap and a re-bore is around 100 bucks!

Dogmann, flint or percussion, reboring a TC is a great way to go.
If you find a Renegade that someone pyrodex'd and neglected, it's a diamond in the rough.

There's a .56 smoothie Renegade on the shelf that got scaled up by the previous owners cleaning habits that I've just never made up my mind about.
Maybe a minie barrel? Or a what? Maybe for paper patched .58's? Fast twist for solid bases? Just don't know.
