Story Of Lead (1948) On Youtube

Story Of Lead (1948) from the Bureau of Mines
Portrays mining operations in the lead belt of southeast Missouri--the crushing of ore, smelting, refining and other steps in the production of pig lead.

Lead smelting done the real dirty way. Check it out.

Multiple changes over the decades. Herculanium mining was forced to close down the smelter, by EPA re-writing the gas stack lead emission regs to un-optainable levels, several years ago. Now the company can only sell lead, zinc, and copper concentrates to over seas smelters.
