    Werder sporter load

I just picked up a Werner Sporter rifle with 75 cases and it is chambered in 10.5 x 35. The gun was never military because on the left side of the receiver is marked SYSTEM WERNER and the right is marked PATENT. NURNBERG. The barrel is 27.5", hexagonal and 3/16" thick. I need to chamber cast it however the seller told me he shot it using .44 cal cast bullets. I would like to get some loads with smokless power and should I use a soft cast without a gas check

    Thanks

The case would have to be a double for 44/40......so any load safe for a black powder winchester would be ok.....In 44 ,I use Trail Boss....8.5grs fills the case to bullet base with 250gn soft lead.......In a short case you cant go wrong with TB,might not be the best, but sure is easy to use.

I'd like to see a picture of the hexagonal barrel.

Here is the muzzle of the
octagonal barrel also showing the cleaning rod with an 8 stippled on the end, there is also a small 8 on the underside of the stock wrist as well as the trigger guard. All parts of the firing cassette are stamped 46 and the flat of the main screw (trigger guard) is carved with a 79 possibly signifying the year made. If you need other pictures of this fine example let me know. I don't know where I got hexagonal

i have a 71 mauser chambered for 10.4X47 M70 vetterli cartridge with a .433 bore. Gads custom cartridges makes this from 8mm lebel brass and uses 20 grains of 2400 under a .429, IIRC.
