    When your work pays off.

After sundown last night I shot a single 3 shot group from three of my rifles. The last time I shot was during a Northern. That's why everything is to the left on target because there was no wind yesterday. My custom Mauser 30-30 with Lee C309150F over 25grs 3031 showed the 22-250 with factory 55gr Vmax what for. My Tikka 8x57 turned in a 2" group with PP 196 sp factory loads. To add to the insult the 30-30 wears a 4x Weaver w/post reticle; the 22-250 a 3x9 Nikon Coyote. I'm not sold on all the circles in that Nikon!

The range is 100 yards, the temp was 70 something, I was resting on leather bags. The targdots are 1".

Nice shootn Tex! Always wanted to say that. That distance is always in the 30-30 realm. Sometimes the simplest things are enough. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, Lawdog. I'm looking forward to finding a good boolit load for the 8mm. A VERY generous member here provided a cornucopia of styles to try!

If I got a .30-30 shooting like that, I'd call it done, and move on to something else.

    Good shooting !

Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.

I hope this ‘70’s vintage Win 94 does that good!! Awesome shooting.
I firmly believe that you should only get treated by how you act, not by who or what you are!!

I'm going to try other powders now because I'm out of 3031. But I'll get some more eventually. This load has shot like this enough to call it a pet load!

Any velocities for that 25.0 3031 loading?

    8mm 175 RNFP GC GB mold and 18.5 - 21.5 gr Milsurp 4759, 22.5 looked like a buckshot pattern
5 at 21.5 4759 looked like your 30-30 target, but I only shot at 50 also.

TCLouis, the last time I chrono'd this load averaged 1840 fps out of my 22" bolt action.
