Thanks guys. The barrel is 18.5", 1-11 twist. Krieger installed and headspaced the barrel and unitized the front end, weld method. Everything that can be "NM", is except the stock. It's one of Fulton Armory's + grade walnut stock and handguard. They're GI spec with just a little meat in all the right places, like a Treeline big red stock. Very tight fit. Not fat like Springfield's. Took almost 2 months to finish the wood. 15 coats of pure tung oil 50/50 with mineral spirits. Sanded in the first four coats with 400 grit wet/dry paper to seal the pores. Japan drier added in the last 2. Finished with 3 coats of Toms 1/3 mix

Wood stock on it is a beauty
Very nice! That gun has more character in my book than the ar's. Funny how some guns can be enjoyed with out shooting it!

Looks like what they were trying for with the Tanker Garand.
I'd look for, or fabricate, a flush or near flush carry mag for woods roaming. I'm guessing the balance point is just past the mid way mark of the magazine well, depending on stock wood density.
I wonder if a Mannlicher type rotary magazine could be fitted to this action?
Reminiscent of an M1A I built back in the early '80s. My stock wasn't as fancy though.....but it shot really well. I mostly used the Speer 130 HP at 2800 fps over H335 in mine. Shot the barrel out and replaced it with a standard milsurp M14 barrel in the mid '90s. Was very handy and quick on coyote calls.
