    7/8 by 14 rod with pilot hole needed.

    I would like to tried and make myself a point form die. Could use a short piece of 7/8x14 rod with a 1/16 inch pilot hole

    I am not knowledgeable about alloy and such. Just something hard enough to last, forming 22 cal bullets from 22lr brass.
    I would think no longer then 1 1/4 inch long. Maybe someone else can help .

    Thanks for the offer, but brought up not to burrow. Maybe someone can drill me a pilot hole in such a bolt ?

    Can't afford BT sniper. Just something I would like to play around with. Can someone use a bolt and drill the pilot hole for me / what would be the cost ?? PM me if this is possible.

    Why do you need the hole drilled? If you have the tools to make the point form die, drilling the hole shouldn’t be a problem. It would in fact be better to drill the hole and finish the rest of the point form die without removing it from the lathe to keep everything concentric.

    The best thing to do is learn how to make a centered hole. You can buy good bolts on eBay for making dies for cheap. 10 bolts for $15

    I don't think it even needs to be centered perfectly. Try just drilling a hole as close to center as you can and reaming a point forming die for yourself ...it would be good practice if it didn't work. That's how I learned to do stuff. Just tried ... no lathe but make my own dies.

    It doesnt have to be centered if your punch can float a bit.

    How long of a piece do you need? How long is a short piece?

    I have a lathe and can setup and do this without issue, I'll just have to get the material. Will all thread work or does it have to be harder?

    let me know.
