    WTB Dominion 455 colt brass

Just got a colt new service 455 eley and looking for some brass to load. At this time, I don’t want to deal with the shorter MKII cases. Any amount you may have and are not using is appreciated. I have much brass to trade as well.

Another source is Ron Reed at Reed's Custom Ammo.

He turns the rims and cuts down Starline .45 Schofield brass and can provide either the MkI or MkII case lengths.

Thanks outpost. Still looking. But I may buy from them. I have some 45 cowboy brass ( 45 acp length with 45 rim) that on my gun, the cylinder closes but too tight to rotate. So these will only need a bit of rim removed to work.

I (believe it or not) make those for him. The thickness is held at .039-.036 and using the Schofield is better since the rim diameter is .010 bigger than 45LC brass.

I really should make a thread on those....

I am currently making 20 right now. I have the shortened schofield case chucked in a drill and using a thin file ( nail file) to thin the rim just enough to fit in my new service. Kind of slow but I am only making 20. I am shortening the case to the same length as the dominion cases which is about .90. Yes, the schofield case adds some much needed width to the rim.

Update, OK, so that was a 5 hour learning experiment. The next 20 I could get down to about 3 hours now ( NOT). Anyway, these 20 cases will last until I find some others. Rather than a nail file to thin the rim, I ran the case chucked in a 1/2 drill while the other hand held pressure with an opposite running dremil tool to thin the rim to about .045. These fit in my gun so I didn’t thin anymore.

That's how I did it I made it out of 45 Schofield. In my Smith & Wesson I was able to trim to .990. It has a 1 inch long chamber. I did a hundred of them it was quite a chore. Lifetime supply though
