Will this six gun shoot ? if yes, what would you feed it ?

Here are the dimensions, and some info.

Single action 357 Mag, 5.5" barrel
    Cone angle 11*
    soft lead into rifling
    Groove =355.5
    Cylinder gap = 3.5 thou.

    Cylinder throats =358.2 358.3

empty cases into a cylinder and the case mouth ends right
at the beginning of the throats.
the front driving bands snug up into the cylinder throats.

So what are your thoughts on it as a lead shooter,
and what would you give it for a bullet ?
    size and hardness.

Seems to me that with the given data you may only get opinions. easiest way is to take it out to the range an shoot stuff through it.

As you describe the dimensions, if it has even fairly decent alignment between barrel and chambers it should shoot when feed decent ammo

Bullets sized to .358 of 50% COWW and 50% soft lead with 1-2 % tin added lubed with anything that works should do fine.

I'd lean towards 45/45/10 or BLL myself.

Thanks folks, gun belongs to a good friend.
It's to cold and way to much snow on the ground for old folks to get out and shoot.
I verified his measurements and that's what reported here.

Tell the truth I thought it sounded pretty good.
But I said the same thing, all the good and all the bad will show up when the gun is shot.
I recommended to start with a bullet not to hard and sized 358

The targets tell the tale Eh.
    Thanks for the help.

That cylinder gap is on the tight side for shooting lead bullets, no problem if using that other kind of bullet that I can't recall the name of. If you shoot something like cowboy matches and use real loads, you will have cylinder bind after a few stages. When I set up a new pair of revolvers, I used a gap of .007 for my use and shooting BP.
If the revolver is used for casual shooting then you should be ok.

i shoot my Dan Wesson with lead and a b/c gap of .002 with no problems in our Montana summers, mild by most standards. IIRC, 0.0035 is within factory specs. Shoot it with a good lube and have fun.

I'll bet a little folding money that wheelgun will shoot VERY well with medium-hardness .358" cast bullets lubed with 50/50 BW/Alox. Yeah, I'm primitive.
I don't paint bullets. I like Black Rifle Coffee. Sacred cows are always fair game. California is to the United States what Syria is to Russia and North Korea is to China/South Korea/Japan--a Hermit Kingdom detached from the real world and led by delusional maniacs, an economic and social basket case sustained by "foreign" aid so as to not lose military bases.
