    P.O. Ackley .228 and .230

    Ackley suggested best results could be attained with the .228 Ackley and .230 Ackley with the use of properly constructed bullets, but doesn't state how these bullets should be constructed. Think he's talking about heavy jackets?

    I make 230 bullets. All the jackets I have are less than .020 wall thickness. I also draw my own jackets.

    I don't think he cared how they were constructed, as long as they put up with the RPM generated by 3500-3800 fps instead of the 2800 fps or so of the 22 Savage Hi Power, and if used for hunting big game, didn't overexpand too early.
    I give loading advice based on my actual results in factory rifles with standard chambers, twist rates and basic accurizing.
    My goals for using cast boolits are lots of good, cheap, and reasonably accurate shooting, while avoiding overly tedious loading processes.

    That makes sense. I'm curious though what construction details would be necessary to push a bullet that fast?

    Talking jacketed here, a smaller lead soft-point tip, and a different lead alloy.
