    What's your favorite BP pistol?

Let's see them! Mine is this Lyman .54 Plains pistol I built from a kit.
A few years back I killed a nice buck with it using 55grs of 3f and a prb.

Mine is the 1858 Remington. Sure handles better than the 1860 Army I had previously...

some days its a flinter single shot similar to your's and some days its the walker colt, the walker is fun to shot but it gets heavy after awhile. some days its some where in between.

Just picked up a Traditions Kentucky caplock pistol in .50 caliber. Don't think the thing had ever been shot much, the finish is almost perfect and it shoots great. I was able to hit the bulls eye at 25 yds off of a rest 3 out of 3 shots. Free hand I'm not that good yet

I have had several BP pistols over the years. But my "pirate" pistol as I call it, has been the most fun to play with. It is a .69 caliber flintlock pistol. I like to use .69 caliber mini balls in it. The bullets weigh 750 grains. I only load 40 to 50 grains of BP and it probably lobs the bullets out at around 600 fps. Yes the recoil is rather strong. What is really cool is that 16 gauge shotgun plastic power pistons fit perfectly. So being a smooth bore (cylinder bore), it does pretty well shooting shot too.

A custom, 45 cal, Kentucky flintlock pistol. I have others to include a GP pistol like Texas posted and revolvers but that Kentucky flinter...it's just my favorite.

Not exactly traditional, but mine is a ruger old army. Most accurate pistol that I own.

I love cap & ball revolvers but I gave my last one to a good friend. I've always had Colt replicas so my next one might be a Remington.

Sure hope I'm not stretching the edges of this thread too far! To me, a true pistol is what Tex showed us in the first post, but Webster says: Pistol: "A short firearm intended to be aimed and fired with one hand." So I'm sticking my neck out here and saying that my favorite black powder pistol is a revolver, 1872 Colt conversion, this one's a replica in .38 Special. I'm pretty sure the .38s of the day were loaded with black powder--but the Special didn't come along until 1902, so the 1872 and the cat'rige (Texas talk) aren't exactly contemporaneous (but what's a mere 30 years?). Besides, just last night on TV I saw Willie using one of these with telling effect in "Outlaw Justice".

But, if you won't let me qualify with that one, then I'll have to fall back on this one as being my favorite.

I've never owned a "true pistol" like shown in Post #1, but have worked on several. Most of them were Jukar brand, which was made in Spain. Why do they make me think of pirates?

If you really like the old 1851 Navy, then the .44 cal. shown in Post #3 is a great compromise between style, balance, and power. I've got one of those also, and it shoots a bit low and left. Enough so that one needs to aim at the upper right hand corner of the target to hit the center. Since there isn't much sight adjustment possible I was at kind of a loss as to what to do about the problem. A fellow who is very savvy about such things told me to increase the load by 10%, but I've never gotten around to trying it. Obviously, the day I was photographing these I mislabeled it as being an 1862, but it is an 1851 .44. Near as I can tell, they never existed in that caliber historically--but I'd be happy to hear I'm mistaken about that. This one is Pietta manufacture, purchased about 2003. Great idea, though.
