    Lube questuion

New to forum and have questions. Does it matter what lube for cold weather. Is one good for cold and warm. I have a 45-70 and thought I read something on this.

You will probably get lots of opinions on this question, but here's mine from my experience. Ben's Red carries me year round hot or cold. I've shot with a 115* heat index with actual temp. at 105* and same performance at 20*. I have since seen where it has been tested very close to 0* and was still performing.

If you prefer to tumble lube, BLL is giving me the exact same performance year round.
I'm sure there are others, but these two i "know" will work, and are all i use anymore because of that very thing you describe.

Both of these lubes keep my first shots in the group as well from a cold bbl.

I use a version of red as well in Florida. Fine in our heat.

    what's cold?

Many lubes will give a cold barrel flier if the gun/ammo/air temp is below 30ºF
Carnuba Wax is one lube ingredient that causes that, depending on the content percentage.

it might be helpful if you list your location, or the location(s) you plan to be using said lube so temp ranges can be established. May not help either...seems to be conflicting opinions on so many things which likely goes back to different guns like different things.

I live in Western NY. Temps are all over the place. I went to the Adirondack mountains this year for opening of deer and bear and it was in the seventy's. I come home and it's thirty. A few weeks ago it was 56 degrees the next day we had 24 inches of snow. So what are your thoughts.
