    I have two questions:
    A. What is the purpose of the groove above the crimp groove?
    B. Is the hollow point version in brass or aluminum?

The groove is called a "dirt groove". Supposedly it existed to scrape fouling out. Did it work? No idea. It's an antiquated concept and you don't see it on newer designs so I doubt it's a substantial if quantifiable improvement, but it's not for lube or crimping.

Also the hollow point variety will be brass.

Thanks Gamesek for the photos, correcting the name and to our fine moderators for making the change.

I would like to know the diameter of the nose also. I have an old BRP version that works fine in my 03A3, but won't chamber in my M94 30-30.

How does this function in a 336 30-30?

It gets seated a little deeper to function in a 30-30. The nose width is .295 or .3. Its a 30-30 in the youtube link above.

There is no question to me that this design will smack with authority.
I too was planning on using it primarily in 30-30. If the nose is too large, I will just use my NOE nose sizing die. An extra step but well worth it.

Heres what I found on MPs website. GAMESEK...If you have any others please post. I would go with no hollow point or a cup point with the alloy he used. Im sure you can get another 400 fps stepping up from 300 BO to 30-30 which would give the same performance I think. Lose the front of the boolit and the base keeps on going.

This was my first attempt with wheel weights (ww) alloy. The first - blue one is HG#38 flat point made from pure+tin.

I haven’t played much with 312440 because it doesn’t feed from my RAR magazine; those purple FP GC were made from ww/pure

Blue HP PB were made from pure/ww and shoot into almost dry paper (I discovered later it was not soaked well) , massive HP with hard medium blew cavity off. All this was at subsonic velocity. I believe pure lead with tin would make some nice mushroom.
