Broken bolt release button on 721

I bought a Rem 721 in -06 that has a broken off bolt release button with a razor sharp edge to it. Suggestions how to fix it? I’m tempted to take a file or Dremel to it at least. Can use with a screwdriver, but certainly not a finger.!

Try Numrich for a replacement first. That's a hard location to break a part in. Inside the trigger guard? Must be a story there......

I imagine there is, but I don’t have it. Maybe dropped while outside of stock?? Sure is sharp!

If you don't mind, take it out of the stock and send us a good picture of the problem. It would not surprise me if the same part from the Model 700 will work.

Pretty sure that the same release button for any of the 700 series rifles would work.Robert

There should be lots of 700 triggers in drawers these days.

I may have posted an *bay, advert first, sorry
    Try this
    https://www.gunbroker.com/item/744936638

In addition, while you wait to get one, you can remove the broken part
and just use an insert along the bolt and action to affect a release

Will try to get a pic of it. Been using a screwdriver to push it up after slicing finger.

I think you can find one but that would not be hard to fix if you can't.

Looks like it may have a crack in the stock. Someone’s sanded the walnut stock down, pistalgrip has a diagonal line from behind rear stock screw.

They also put on a side scope mount —Williams; with an old Weaver 2.5x scope. Sights free and clear, but no cheek contact using scope.

When you get it lined out you'll have a great rifle. The 721 was the beginning of the 700 dynasty.

Take a picture of correctly assembled trigger.
Plastic bag to catch ball bearing and Cir-clip
Remove cir-clip on opposite side, take off all other items
(spring, safety, ball) once held captive,
    remove pin,
Take off old broken part, install new part and insert pin
    Reassemble
    Re-install cir-clip
